Womens Lingerie Basketball League

Yup, seriously.  It is called "Lingerie Basketball" Where beauty meets the hardwood.

There are four teams:
LA Divas

LA Beauties
LA Glam
LA Starlets

And they are located in...you guessed it! LA.

All the rules are for real and they actually play a season, about 8 games long. The play from July through September then do a championship.  20 minute halves.  Here's the website

After learning about this I decided to check if there was a football league.  Oh yes there is.  Much more evolved then the basketball league.  12 teams, the season starts in August and goes through the end of January.  Full playoffs, teams from all over the country.  So the football league is the real deal. Its aired on MTV on Friday nights and it has tailgating etc. Here is the website and a few pictures below: Lingerie Football League

Good Bye Lockout

5 Reasons the Lockout is ending:
(1) Reports say Packers have told players to make sure they are in town by Friday this week
(2) Pictures of training camp tents have been shown on the Internet
(3) Vincent Jackson and Logan Mankins have requested free agency after lockout ends "this week"
(4) Fantasy Football commercials are starting to play on TV often.
(5) One missed pre-season game means over $200,000,000 is lost to the NFL.

If Lockout ends this week, teams have 72 hours starting Monday to sign free agents.  Teams usually have about 2 months + to do this.  It will be nuts!!

I for one can not wait for this to happen and then its time for some Fantasy Football :) I saw a great commercial today about the lockout and fantasy football but I couldn't find it online.  So here is a classic to enjoy!

Highest Paid Athletes

We all know athletes make insane amounts of money for what they do.  They are getting paid ridiculous amounts of money for doing something every little boy or girl hoped they could do for a living and most of us would probably do it for free.  Not only are they paid for the sport they play but some of these athletes are making double and triple what they make for their respective sport in advertisements.  Here is a list of the top 20 highest paid athletes in the world for the past 12 months.

#20 Dwayne Wade
$26.2 million - Basketball - Age: 29
#19 Dwight Howard
$27.6 million - Basketball - Age: 25
#18 Yao Ming
$27.7 million - Basketball - Age: 30
#17 Dale Earnhardt Jr.
$28.5 million - Racing - Age: 36
#16 Derek Jeter
$29 million - Baseball - Age: 36
#15 Lewis Hamilton
$30 million - Racing - Age: 29
#14 Tom Brady
$31 million - Football - Age: 33
#13 Valentino Rossi
$31 million - Racing - Age: 32
#12 Rafael Nadal
$31.5 million - Tennis - Age: 24
#11 Fernando Alonso
$32 million - Racing - Age: 29
#10 Lionel Messi
$32.3 million - Soccer - Age: 23
#9 Michael Schumacher
$34 million - Racing - Age: 42
#8 Alex Rodriguez
$35 million - Baseball - Age: 35
#7 Cristiano Ronaldo
$38 million - Soccer - Age: 26
#6 David Beckham
$40 million - Soccer - Age: 36
#5 Phil Mickelson
$46.5 million - Golf - Age: 40
#4 Roger Federer
$47 million - Tennis - Age: 29
#3 LeBron James
$48 million - Basketball - Age: 26
#2 Kobe Bryant$53 million - Basketball - Age: 32

#1 Tiger Woods
$75 million - Golf - Age: 35

No surprise here I guess.  I was really expecting Tiger to drop off this list because he hasn't played nearly as well as he is capable of and with the scandal he did lose Pepsi, AT&T along with a few other large sponsors.  Thanks to a couple small companies called Nike and EA Sports, Tiger has nothing to worry about when it comes to dollar signs.  Although, he may have some trouble in the relationship business.

ESPY Awards

Last night was the "Espys" on ESPN.  If you are like me, this is the biggest awards show of the year.  It mixes the best male and female athletes and surrounds them by other beautiful famous people. Seth Myers was the host.  I thought he was hilarious.  The best line of the night may have been "LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade refer to themselves as the big 3, in honor of how many quarters they play" or "Ray Lewis warned that if there was no season the crime rate would go up, though he didn't say specifically what he had in mind" haha

Anyway, they talked a lot about the lock out and ripped on the Dodgers, and the Miami Head mostly.  Dallas Mavs stole the show for the most part.  The Eagles won the award for best game for their comeback VS the Giants when they scored 28 points in the last 7 minutes of the game. Aaron Rodgers won best NFL player, Dirk won best NBA player and best male athlete.  Roy Halladay won best MLB player.  Jimmy Johnson won best driver, Tim Thomas won best championship performance.

Justin Bieber won biggest douchebag.  Arian Foster won best performance.   Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams won best male and best female tennis player. Maya Moore & Jimmer Fredette won best college athletes while VCU basketball won biggest upset for the win of Kansas.  The Fighter won best sports movie and best play went to the USA womens soccer team.  Go USA!

Of course I missed some things but those are the highlights in my mind.  I don't really think anyone cares about the best chess player.

In conclusion, it was pretty funny, and I think most of who won deserved it.  Justin Bieber needs to stop being on sports shows, Shaun White is one ugly SOB and Serena Williams has WAY more junk in the trunk, and under the hood for that matter then I thought she did.

Here are the past hosts just for fun:

1993: Dennis Miller
1994: Dennis Miller
1995: John Goodman
1996: Tony Danza
1997: Jeff Foxworthy
1998: Norm McDonald
1999: Samuel L. Jackson
2000: Jimmy Smits
2001: Samuel L. Jackson
2002: Samuel L. Jackson
2003: Jamie Foxx
2004: Jamie Foxx
2005: Matthew Perry
2006: Lance Armstrong
2007: LeBron James & Jimmy Kimmel
2008: Justin Timberlake
2009: Samuel L. Jackson
2010: Seth Myers

Best NFL coaches to leave one team for another

So I decided to write this article when I was watching the Home Run Derby last night and I saw the old Yankees Skipper, Joe Torre.  I was thinking about how much I miss seeing him in the dugout of the Yankees games.  Or in baseball period! Then it got me thinking about how many great coaches were either traded or left the team in which they were beloved.  Then I started going through some NFL coaches and realized that there were SO MANY! So even though I am showing a picture of Joe Torre, this article is going to just be about NFL coaches.  I just had to still show respect to the best MLB coach to ever live.  My thoughts on what I feel are the top 14 coaches to leave a team to go on to a better one or a worse one.  This is in no specific order.  I will do other sports some other time.  Enjoy!

Jim Mora - 11 years with the Saints then moved to coach the Colts. Eventually the Saints would win a SuperBowl under head coach Sean Payton. Although he was a great coach and his son is also a coach, he may be more famous for the "Playoffs!?" rant he made on national TV when asked if his team would rally and make the post season that year. (Jim Mora 0, Saints 1)

Jon Gruden - Talk about bitter sweet. Gruden was the Raiders head coach and led them to the post season in 2000 and then he was traded to the Buccaneers two years later where he eventually beat the shit out of Oakland in SuperBowl XXXVII. (Gruden 1, Oakland 0)
Tom Coughlin - Coughlin started his head coach career with the new expansion team, Jacksonville Jaguars. They were considered the best expansion team in history with 4 straight post season years and 10 plus wins in each of them. After 3 years with a sucky record, he was fired. 2 years later the Giants made him their head coach and he eventually led them to a Superbowl victory over the highly favored Patriots. (Coughlin 1, Jacksonville 0)
Dennis Green - Head coach of the Vikings. Everyone thought he was good, until he left the Vikings and went to Arizona. Now I am pretty sure everyone understands it was Randy Moss who was good and not Green who ended his career with 4 striaght losing seasons. "They are who we thought they were"   (Minnesota 1, Green 0)
Mike Shanahan - It may be too early to tell but right now it is looking like Mr. Shanahan should thank his lucky stars that a guy named John Elway was under center for him all those years. He coached the Broncos for 14 seasons and that included 9 winning seasons and 2 SuperBowls. In my opinion, the Broncos should have kept him. As of right now, both Washington and Denver look pretty crappy. (Shanahan 1, Broncos 0)
Mike Holmgren - Holmgren never had a losing season with Green Bay and went to two straight SuperBowls. Brett Favre was his guy and a legacy. You may think he was dumb for leaving GreenBay which he actually was, but even though the Seahawks appear to be a joke, they have made the playoffs in 6 seasons since he became head coach including one SuperBowl appearance. Which is great but then the damn Packers had to go and win the SuperBowl this past year. Without that, I would have chosen Mike, but because of the SB win its going to the Pack. (Packers 1, Holmgren 0)
Marv Levy - Most people probably thought Marv was the Bills head coach and that's it. Actually he was the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs for 4 years until they let him go. 4 years later the Bills gave him a shot and all he did was take them to 4 straight SuperBowls. Of course the Bills never did win one but come on, I am pretty sure Levy wasnt the one who kicked that field goal! (Levy 1, Chiefs 0)
Jimmy Johnson - Jimmy won 2 straight SuperBowls with the Cowboys. I cant remember who they beat, but who cares right? :) Anyway, Jimmy resigned after a feud with jerk-off owner Jerry Jones. He later went to the Miami Dolphins where he eventually resigned again saying he was "burnt out". The Cowboys went on to win another SuperBowl with head coach Berry Switzer who I believe just took the team Jimmy Johnson had put together and ran away with another one. (Johnson 0, Cowboys 1)
Mike Ditka - Went from the Bears to the Saints. Seriously? Ditka not the Bears head coach? "Da Bears" "Ditkaa" "Polish Sausage" (Ditka 0, Bears 1)
Tony Dungy - The Buccaneers said Tony was inadequate and they fired him after 5 seasons as the head coach. He then became the head coach of the Colts and won a SuperBowl and also was in charge of one of the most feared teams in the NFL for the past 10 years. (Dungy 1, Tampa 0)
Bill Parcells - Parcells won 2 SuperBowls with the NY Giants. He eventually went on to coach 3 other NFL teams, including the Giants arch nemesis, the Dallas Cowboys. He never won another SuperBowl. The Giants went to two since then and were champs in one of them. (Parcells 0, Giants 1)
Bill Belichick - (Browns 0, Belichick 1) Sorry, I hate this guy.
Don Shula - Look at this guys overall record: 328-156-6 WOW! shula coached both the Colts and the Dolphins. He is mainly known for the Dolphins and his 2 SuperBowl victories including the annoying undefeated season which has been beaten in my eyes since the seasons used to be shorter back then. Since Shula went to Miami, the Colts have won a Superbowl, but they were very bad for a very long time before that. Also, the Colts were the Baltimore Colts, so you could say the Ravens won a Superbowl since then. Shula had so many great years with Dan Marino with the Dolphins. (Shula 1, Colts 0)
Vince Lombardi - I did not expect to see his name on here. Vince came back one year after retirement and coached the Redskins. Most people especially Packer fans, just erase this from their minds. I mean its Vince Lombardi! The Man! (Packers 1, Lombardi 0)
